Wow. It's actually pretty easy to see how this is done. It looks impressive at first because conventionally we think of mowers as large, heavy and cumbersome. But if this was just a hollow model of a mower made out of plastic, it would maybe weigh an ounce or two and most electric model airplane motors have sufficient power to lift an ounce or two helicopter style straight up. If you freeze the video in certain spots it's apparent that the motor is mounted on the front and the entire body of the mower is hollow and airfoil-shaped: this is a flying wing. The handle functions like a modified t-tail, sort of like one on a learjet. The control surfaces are towards the back of the mower and are apparent in certain shots.

It's an RC plane -- a bit smaller than a real lawnmower. It's 24" wide and weighs about 6 pounds. You can buy one here:

Upon a second viewing, it does appear to be real. I would guess that this is half scale (no more) and is made of balsa wood. The control surfaces are evident on the rear and the handle probably has at least one control surface on it. It appears to only have one engine which still gives me trouble, but I suppose that would be easy to explain if the mower were one quarter scale or lighter than solid balsa (foam perhaps).

It's clearly impossible. If it were something to do with the blade acting as a propeller then there would be no method of regulating forward motion. Even if there were, then there would be no way of motivating the air downwards (like a helicopter) since the top is covered.

Probably good CGI, or the lawnmower is suspended somehow for most of the shots (it goes upside down once).

If this were to be an actual flying lawn mower, then there would have to be MANY RC airplane engines at the front and a method for maintaining control. Call it 5 engines total, and at least 3 GOOD control surfaces with a high stability rating.

It's a model airplane design that is made to look like a lawnmower. You can search the web for plans and kits. Fun to watch one fly, thanks for the video!
