This is absurd. This is exactly the story the Israeli propaganda machine is trying to sell. Stealing people’s land, starving them for years, and then bombing 1.5 million people with internationally forbidden weapons when a few decide that life is not really worth it, is NOT “poking”.
January 12th, 2009 19:05
Man, Israel provided the Palestinians with food, water and electricity whenever it was possible without endangering Israel’s citizens by letting terrorists inside.
I don’t call that starving.

this issue is so polarizing and has no one way solution.
the israelites were pushed out of palestine/judea so long ago and then the palestinian arabs developed there, displacing the palestinians is exactly the same as what happened to the israelites so long ago. and if they cant live together, which they obviously can not since they both believe it is solely there land then there is no solution. unless of course all of one side died, that woudl be a horrible but effective solution. it is teh homeland for both peoples, the palestinians have tried again and again to take it over and the israelites have always crushed them decively which is to there benefit, if the palestinian spirit has not been crushed by these consecutive defeats then there is no way that they ever will be.

the Palestinians only became TERRORISTS when the brutal Israeli policies forced them to resort to drastic action.
January 13th, 2009 01:54
This is JUST like when PAUL EL LIS POOH Pd HIS PANTS!!
January 14th, 2009 02:39
you cannot stop what been happening for thousands of years or BLAME Israel for all the strife.
Israel was thrown out of their Country 1000’s of years ago and the Palestinians took it over, now in comes the English after ww-II and they with the Palestinians let them Back in, Who’s to blame you ask or who’s Country is it is the REAL answer just look in the Bible and the Koran, the Land is and always will be Israel land NOT Palestine. Tell them to go back where they belong, Guess who took their land away?
January 15th, 2009 15:39
When the latest Gaza attacks began, Israel refused to allow the news media into Gaza to report on the attacks. Israel also refused to let the UN deliver food and medical supplies. I find it a strange coincidence that, this morning, Israel bombed both a UN supply warehouse and a building containing several international news media representatives, injuring a few of them. Israel called it a “grave mistake”.
Notice the Israelis used the word “mistake” rather than the word “accident”.
Accident means I intended to hit something else but due to some error I hit that instead.
Mistake means I did it but I now realize I shouldn’t have.
As of today, 13 Israelis and 1055 Palestinians dead. Does that seem a little lop-sided to anyone else?

@jaxsun
LIES.
there is a solution.
glass the whole region.
would there be any more conflict there?
i dont think so

Everyone b*tchin on these comments doesn’t understand that the side could be reversed and it’s still fitting… it’s more about the behavior than the analogy.

If you look down from space there are no borders,no gods,no religion, no languages, no possessions…. In the stillness of space lies silence and peace. Nothing to die for only the moment and an awesome view.
Religion is the root cause of all major conflicts in the Western World.
January 19th, 2009 14:07
Wheeeeeeeeel, it is the same story as everything in the middle east. The western world got involved in the arab/muslim world and now they are pissed off about it. Can you really say that the land belongs to Israel after thousands of years of not occupying it? The Jewish people from Europe had been faced with difficulties in Europe in the decades leading up to WWII and had been fleeing to Israel for some time. Prior to WWII, Zionist leaders pushed for a free Israeli state and the amount of people on the Gaza Strip continued to grow. After the British moved out, Israel won the war for the land fair and square, however that does not mean the Palestinians cannot fight to get it back. It does mean though that the Western World should not be involved. This is their situation, and they will resolve it just as every war resolved something throughout history. It might be a million years before the conflict gets resolved, but you cannot support one side and not expect the other side(the Arab world) not to hate you for it. This constant involvement eventually leads to blow back on the third party for example terrorist attacks. And lastly, its just a cartoon not an epic statement on world history.

Wow it is so great to read all these reasoned arguments. Israel always belonged to Irael, sure and most of America belongs to the American Indians, are you going to give up YOUR house?
I have no sympathy whatsoever for Hamas, but I also condemn Israel for killing non-combatants (I didn’t say innocent bystanders), causing terrible suffering and destroying infrastructure and then trying to justify their barabarism.
You cannot use the Bible to justify slaughter and cruelty, nor can you hide behind protecting your country’s safety – If Israel treated Palestinians with some respect and dignity (whether they have earned it or not) this conflict might end up as a footnote in history books instead of headlines on the daily news.

Smart comic. Discussion in comments – not so smart.
February 14th, 2009 22:31
Thats a pretty spectacularly shittily drawn comic.
February 15th, 2009 00:05
palistine isnt the problem the problem is hammas and the extreme militant muslim radicals. BUT because they protect terrorists they are just as guilty. if there are palistinians that are opposed to hammas then…. WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU STILL LIVE THERE
February 15th, 2009 04:27
If you Glass the region, as mentioned above, you will have mutant cockroaches fighting over the land. Possibly also, the Zombie Apocalypse. Better solution, make the Middle East Irrelevant to the rest of the world. Build MODERN Nuclear Power Plants, with a MODERN Electric Rail System in combination with Electric Commuter Cars. Cut dependence on oil to about 30%. Look up the Barbary States sometime. Without Oil, the area is a sand pit.
February 15th, 2009 08:53
everyone shut up, this comic is funny. End of Story.
February 15th, 2009 16:45
I disagree- these are some really good comments for a comic
February 16th, 2009 02:58
@So REal
@anon
That’s bull. Religion is not the cause of all conflict. plenty of atheists have started conflicts. Look at the Soviet Union. Full of conflict. And the state had banned religion!
What causes conflicts are people. Stupid, dumbarsed people that can’t think of anything better to do with their time than hurt others.
Peace. It’s better than war. We may want to try it some time- you know, not shooting at people?
February 16th, 2009 06:40
@ Debaser
They are all shittily drawn…the comic is “cyanide and happiness” from http://www.explosm.net They’re drawn simply because you focus more readily on the absurdity of the comic… they’re friggin awsome
And…how many of us posters live there? Who gives a fuck? We have enough problems on our own soil without laying supposed moral groundwork in someone else’s town.

erock:
i would think most sensible people tend to hope a war is lopsided, lest it carry on in perpetuity.
it seems to me that lamenting one side’s clear victory is merely indicating your displeasure at the outcome.
perhaps you root for the underdog in a fight that doesn’t concern you. or perhaps you have a dog in the fight. either way, your bias is clear.

Great cartoon. For those who are open to learning some history of the conflict presented logically, you might look at: http://www.thecaseforisrael.com.
It seems like many people take the side of the perceived ‘underdog’ (ie Palestinians) with much self-righteous emotion, without understanding the real story…
It doesn’t hurt to educate ourselves…
This cartoon opens a dialog, thanks again.
